Saturday, May 3rd the Swansea Public Library will be participating in Free Comic Book Day. The library will have Free Comic Book Day comic books donated by StillPoint Comics in Fall River, as well as back issues donated by The Time Capsule in Seekonk. Supplies are limited, so the library encourages people to come in early. If people come in costume, they will be allowed to take extra comic books, so costumes are strongly encouraged.
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the creation of Batman, the Swansea Public library is also having a few Batman related events and contests. At 1pm there will be a Batman trivia contest. The library will have Batman movies playing all day long. An Arkham Asylum jail-cell will be available for photo opportunities. A Batman sidekick art contest kicks off on Free Comic Book Day for kids and a Batman fan fiction contest for teens and adults. Newbury Comics North Dartmouth has donated a $25 gift card as a prize.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual international comic book giveaway that encourages interest in comic books.
