Friend, Foe or Escargot: Life and Death in the Garden

Friend, Foe or Escargot: Life and Death in the Garden

How do you keep pestsfrom infiltrating the garden and turning it into a naked jungle?  A garden attracts insects by thedozens, from aphids to slugs, sawflies to tiger bee flies. Some are beneficial, while others are not, so before you wage war on them, take another look at thelife in your garden. TheSwansea Public Library is pleased to present Pam Gilpin, expert gardener who will talk about bugs in the garden on Wednesday July 10 at 6:30PM in theReference Room.

Although it may appear as though pests are devouring your plants, Pam

Gilpin will help you understand that another wave of insects may be coming to
the rescue.  Don’t reach for the spray bottle.  This talk will help you tell the good guys
from the bad guys and help you understand how bugs live and die and work to
create a happy, healthy, ecofriendly garden space.

With over 20 years of experience in sustainable
landscaping gardening and environmental education Pam will teach you
about the lives among your leaves. Pam has been photo-documenting bugs that
have crossed her path. She will help identify some common critters and reveal
the wonderful world of bugs up close and personal. Sign up today for this free workshop.  It is open to the public and will take place in the Library Reference Room.
