I-195 Mayhem: Wrong-Way Drunk Driver Hits Spike Strip, Police Say
Jowaun Gamble drove drunk over 15 miles in the wrong direction on Interstate 195, only stopping after hitting a spike strip, police said.
WAREHAM, MA — A drunk driver from Wareham caused mayhem on Interstate 195 early Saturday as he traveled over 15 miles in the wrong direction and only stopped after hitting a spike strip, authorities said. Jowaun Gamble, 23, was charged with a host of crimes.
Police said at about 1:40 a.m., they received a report Gamble was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima eastbound in the westbound lane in Fairhaven. A state trooper pulled alongside Gamble's vehicle but he refused to stop, police said.
"Troopers from the Dartmouth and Bourne Barracks along with local police departments monitored traffic to ensure the wrong way operator did not cause any crashes," state police said in a statement.
