Man Almost Hits Fairhaven Officer During Police Chase: PD
The suspect revved his engine and drove toward a police officer, almost hitting him before speeding away, according to police.

FAIRHAVEN, MA — A Fairhaven man was arrested Thursday after police said he sent them on a chase and almost hit an officer with his car.
Isaiah Matthews, 21, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Around 2:30 p.m.. Fairhaven Police said they were called Howland Road because of a disturbance. Police said they saw Matthews sitting in his car and walked over to speak with him.

Matthews revved his engine and drove toward a police officer, almost hitting him before speeding away, according to police. Police said they chased Matthews through Acushnet until he got out of his car and tried escaping on foot. He was eventually caught near a home on Pleasant Street. No one was injured during the chase.
Matthews is expected to be arraigned in New Bedford District Court on Friday.
