Obituary: Alfred "Fred" Paiva

Mr. Paiva was an Army veteran of World War II.

Alfred “Fred” Paiva, 89, of Bark St., Swansea, formerly of Liberty St., Fall River, husband of the late Mary L. “Mamie” (Donovan) Paiva, died Sunday, April 7, 2013.

An Army veteran of WW II, he was employed by Riverview Towers. He enjoyed bowling and cherished spending time with his family.

He leaves 2 daughters, Elizabeth “Peaches” Fournier and her husband Maurice of Swansea and Carol Silva and her husband Antone of Fall River; grandchildren, Maurice Fournier, Jr., Susan Aguiar and her husband Daniel, Pamela Almeida and her husband Evan, Matthew Fournier and Nicole Silva; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Connor Almeida and Abigail and Olivia Aguiar and nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Manuel and Georgianna (Sousa) Paiva and the brother of the late William and Edward and Madeline Paiva, Delores Costa, Hilda Robinson, and Irene Dicesaro.

His funeral was held April 10 from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Mary Cathedral and burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. Donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105  are appreciated.
