Pair Arrested After Car, Foot Chase In Seekonk
It all started with stolen baby formula.

SEEKONK, MA – Two men were arrested Thursday after an alleged shoplifting turned into a police pursuit in Seekonk. Officers responded to the CVS on Newman Avenue around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man who had allegedly stolen baby formula.
Police were given a description of the suspect and told that he had fled southbound on Newman Avenue in a white car. Officers found the car traveling at a "high rate of speed."
In what police believed to be an attempted to elude officers, the car passed other drivers on Newman Avenue before making an abrupt turn on onto Gardner Street and stopping in a nearby driveway. Both men fled the car on foot.

The passenger of the car and suspect in the shoplifting, later identified as Kiel Marchand, 31, of Attleboro, fell into a ditch and officers caught up with him. He then allegedly assumed a "fighting stance" and police deployed an electronic control device to subdue him.
Marchand was arrested and charged with shoplifting, assault, resisting arrest and being a fugitive from justice due to out of state warrants.

A police canine team tracked the driver, later identified as James Josselyn, 34, of Smithfield, RI, to a wooded area off of Gardner Street and placed him under arrest. Josselyn is charged with shoplifting, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
Both men will be arraigned in Taunton District Court.
