Police Charge Man With Killing Town Employee in January Crash

Police have arrested an Attleboro man after a hit-and-run crash that killed a Seekonk woman in January, wpri.com reported.
Jacob LaCourse, 24, of Attleboro, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office announced Sunday.
LaCourse is charged with hitting Seekonk Assistant Town Clerk Karen McHugh, who was walking on Arcade Avenue, about 10 p.m. on Jan. 30. She was pronounced dead later that night. LaCourse allegedly fled the scene, leaving few clues behind. Seekonk and Massachusetts State Police investigated the crash for months, eventually determining LaCourse’s identity.

LaCourse is being held on $500,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday. until a formal arraignment Monday morning in Taunton District Court.
“I would like to publicly recognize the tireless work of all the investigators in this case, specifically Seekonk Detective Sergeant David Enos and Seekonk Police Chief Craig Mace,” District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a release. “For the past six months, these investigators have followed up on hundreds of potential leads and tips. This arrest results from their determination to seek justice for Karen McHugh.”
