Police didn't say why the man was driving from MA to ME overnight, but they did drive him the remaining 70 miles.

FAIRHAVEN, MA — A man without a driver's license drove his motorized scooter from almost the southernmost point in Massachusetts to Maine, where he was pulled over for using his cellphone as a headlight, police said.

State Police said they pulled over the 26-year-old Fairhaven man on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery, just north of Portsmouth, N.H., at about 1:22 a.m. Friday. He had driven from New Bedford, MA, police said. That's a roughly 130-mile scooter ride.

Police did not say why the man was traveling across states in the middle of the the night on a scooter, but "his reasons were good enough that the Troopers helped him out," giving him a ride the remaining 70 miles.
