Seekonk's Medeiros Captains Assumption Softball Squad

Former Warrior standout Lauren Medeiros is looking for a big senior season at Assumption College.

 

Seekonk's Lauren Medeiros is looking to have a big senior season for the Assumption College women's softball season. The left-handed hitting second baseman is a tri-captain for the Greyhounds and she was also a captain as junior.

On the final day of the NTC Spring Games in Florida for Assumption, the Hounds picked up a split with the University of Bridgeport in regional action on Saturday night. Assumption took game one by an 8-1 final, followed by a 7-1 loss in game two. Assumption closes out the trip at 3-9 overall, while Bridgeport now sits at 1-3 on the season.

Medeiros batted .300 during the Florida trip with three homers and seven RBI in 30 at bats.

A pre-legal studies major, Medeiros has been named to Assumption Student-Athlete Honor Roll several times during her career.

At Seekonk High, she played softball, basketball and field hockey, earning honors in all three spots.

As a junior, she was a Northeast-10 Third Team All-Conference selection and named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference team. Medeiros tied the school with three homers in one game in a road win at Merrimack. She also tied the school for most runs batted in with seven against Bentley. Medeiros finished the year with a .380 batting average, good for eighth in the Northeast-10 after getting hits in 40 out of 51 games. 

As a sophomore, she was first team all-conference selection, after batting .397 with six homers, 40 runs scored and a .479 on-base percentage. Medeiros was also outstanding in the field with .924 fielding percentage. 

In her freshman season, she was the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Years and first team all-conference after batting a league best .457. Medeiros was also named the Andrew Laska Awards as Assumption athlete of the year and the school's freshman athlete of the year.
