The 10A all-stars of the Swansea Independent Baseball League advanced to the championship round of the 2013 Mustang League North Region Tournament by defeating the Dom Aitro Baseball League of New Haven, Conn., 17-7, Saturday afternoon in the winners' bracket final at the Nike Site Playing Complex in Swansea.
Colby Campos slammed four hits and Brandon Medeiros contributed two hits as Swansea rallied from a 3-1 deficit after one inning to post its second tournament victory in as many stars. The SIBL club broke open a tight contest with an eight-run explosion in the fourth frame.
Josh Ferreira, Devyn Vezina and Medeiros all pitched for Swansea. Luis Dias recorded two hits for Dom Aitro.
In other tournament action Saturday, the Tri-City Bombers of Troy, N.Y., also advanced to the title round after eliminating the Belmont Elite of Belmont, N.Y. (13-3) and Dom Aitro (15-12), in losers' bracket outings.
Swansea (2-0) will face Tri-City (2-1) in Sunday's championship round starting at 9 a.m. If a second game is necessary, it will start at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The Region Tournament champion will move on to the East Zone Tournament to be staged July 25 through 27 in Chesterfield, Virg.
