Summer Exhibit ~ Sailor Made Models ~ Opens At the Marine Museum at Fall River, June 29th

The Marine Museum has a treasure trove of ship models of all description in its collections. This special exhibit will feature many seldom seen sailor made models from the museum’s archives.   There are numerous ships in bottles; a beautiful 28” model of the Portuguese Ship, Sagres.  Of special interest are two models— Battleship Tirpitz and Cruiser Admiral Hipper—made by World War II German Prisoners of War.

One of the more interesting primitive models is of the Fall River Line Steamer, Pilgrim, which is five feet long, built with its own working steam engine by Fall River native, George W. Rigby.

Several of these models can be touched and held by the young and the young-at-heart!  So come by and experience some hands-on history!

Admission: Adults: $6.00; $5.00 for children and Seniors.
Special Scout & Group rates always available!
For further information or to make reservations, please call the Marine Museum at 508-674-3533.

Save this date: June 29, 2014
