Swansea Child Molester Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Term

Christopher Rochon, of Swansea, was convicted of sexually assaulting an adolescent relative.

SWANSEA, MA — A Swansea child molester was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for raping an adolescent family member. Christopher Rochon, 34, "deserves the substantial sentence," said Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn in a statement.

Rochon was convicted of sexually assaulting a young relative through marriage multiple times from the time the girl was 5 years old until she was 15. Fall River Superior Court Judge Raffi Yessayan sentenced Rochon to 20 to 25 years in prison followed by 35 years of supervised probation.

Quinn called it a "very unpleasant" case, noting the victim's mother "did not support her."

"(I) want to express my admiration for the young victim for the courage and perseverance she showed in testifying in this case," Quinn said. "It is extremely difficult to relive these allegations, especially when you have no family support."

Quinn said the assaults happened at several homes Rochon shared with the girl and their family in Swansea and Fall River.
