Swansea's Joseph Charest is a senior right handed pitcher for the Fordham University baseball team.

He fell to 1-2 on the season as the Fordham lost to Stony Brook, 3-2, Saturday in the Bronx. Charest went 3.1 innings, giving up eight hits and allowing two earned runs.

In his second straight of the year, Charest went the distance as the Rams beat Iona, 4-3, striking out seven batters, allowing seven hits and two unearned runs.

During the Rams' third game series against the University of Michigan at Met's Spring Training Complex in Port St. Lucie, Charest started season-opener, going six innings in a 9-1 loss, Feb. 22.

After being in the bullpen as a sophomore, Charest moved into the starting rotation. going 5-8 in 13 starts with a 3.43 earned run average. Three times, he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Charest attended LaSalle Academy in Rhode Island.
