Swansea School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Early Release Days

SWANSEA, MA – Record scratch, school can't be right around the corner, can it? It's still a ways away, but these things have a knack for sneaking up on you during the dog days of summer. The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Aug. 29.

The 2017-18 school calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here's a list of dates to know for the fall semester:

• Aug. 28: Staff report
• Aug. 29: First day grades 1-12
• Aug. 30: K orientation
• Aug. 31: First day K
• Sept. 4: No school, Labor Day
• Sept. 15: No school students, Staff inservice
• Sept. 26: Late start (10 a.m.), high school
• Oct. 9: No school, Columbus Day
• Oct. 31: Professional development, early release elementary and middle schools
• Nov. 10: No school students, Staff inservice
• Nov. 22: Early release, all schools
• Nov. 23, 24: Thanksgiving recess
• Dec. 7, 8: Professional development, early release elementary school
• Dec. 25-Jan. 1: Winter recess
