16-Year-Old Taunton Boy Killed In 3-Car Crash On Route 24
A 16-year-old Taunton boy was killed after being ejected from the car in a three-vehicle crash on Route 24 in Freetown.
FREETOWN, MA — A 16-year-old Taunton boy was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 24 northbound, according to State Police. Just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, a Mazda 5 hatchback with five occupants was driving near exit 10 when the driver swerved to the left to avoid a deer and struck the median.
When the car crashed, it start to roll over and came to a rest in the left travel lane. Police said the car rolling over caused the Taunton boy to be ejected from the hatchback onto the road.
Someone driving an Audi Q5 SUV saw the debris from the crash and braked suddenly to avoid hitting the boy. But then, someone driving a Saturn sedan tried to apply the emergency break, but struck the boy and the Audi, State Police said.

The 16-year-old boy was determined dead at the scene. His name will not be released because he is a juvenile, State Police said.
The driver of the Mazda, a 38-year-old Taunton woman, and another passenger, a 21-year-old Taunton woman, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries. Two other passengers in the Mazda, an 11-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl, both of Taunton, were taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence and were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Saturn, a 31-year-old Boston man, was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River with minor injuries. A 60-year-old man, who was driving the Audi, was not injured.
