Vandals Mark Jewish Cemetery With Slurs, 'This Is MAGA Country'

FALL RIVER, MA — More than two dozen gravestones at a Jewish cemetery were vandalized and marked with messages ranging from references to Hitler to "This is MAGA country" over the weekend.

Fall River police said about 25 gravestones were vandalized at the Hebrew Cemetery on McMahon Street. Some were tipped over.

"Heil Hitler" was scrawled in black magic marker across at least one of them. others have swastikas and other anti-Semitic language including "expel the Jew" and racial epithets. The Herald News reported at least one gravestone read “Oy vey! This is MAGA country."

Police said the damage was discovered Sunday afternoon by a cemetery maintenance worker.

Police are investigating reports of a vehicle parked in the area for two days. They earlier talked to the owner of a vehicle parked in the cemetery, but said there was no relation to the crimes.

No arrests have been made.

The Anti-Defamation League of New England is offering a $1,500 reward in addition to a reward offered by police.
