Seekonk Police K-9 'Kilo' Retires (LISTEN)

Kilo, a 10-year-old German shepherd, retired from service this week. Listen to his "last call" here.

SEEKONK, MA – Seekonk's furriest police officer is hanging it up. The department held a retirement party Tuesday for Kilo, a German shepherd closing in on 11 years old.

Kilo will now live with his human partner, Officer Laprade. The Seekonk Police Department said the two are "bonded for life."

Kilo came to Seekonk three years ago, and prior to that served with the Maryland Transportation Authority police.

"K-9 Kilo has taken countless criminals and narcotics off our streets, even as recently as last night," an officer said during Kilo's "last call." His success has led to the expansion of the Seekonk's K-9 unit, according to the police department.
