Would-Be Bank Robber Has Second Thought, Leaves Penniless: Police

Fall River Police said the woman wrote "give me the money" on a piece of paper before ripping up the note and throwing it in the trash.

FALL RIVER, MA — Police are looking to identify a woman who they say appeared to get cold feet during a bank robbery, ripping up a note demanding money and leaving.

Police responded to Fall River Municipal Credit Union Monday afternoon for a reported of an attempted robbery, though those words might have been too strong. Officers were told a woman in a black fleece, black hat, black glasses and white sneakers walked up to the teller, said "give me a minute" and walked to the check-writing counter where she wrote a note. The woman then ripped up the note, threw the pieces in the trash and walked out.

Bank employees retrieved the note, which read "give me the money."
