Now offering a safer and more convenient way to make repayments

This post was contributed by a community member.

As part of a government-wide effort to streamline payment processes, Social Security is making it easier and safer for you to repay any overpayment you owe. If you've received an overpayment notice from us, you can now pay it back online using Pay.gov—or Online Bill Pay on the Bureau of the Fiscal Service website.

Why Go Digital?

Electronic payments are fast, secure, and convenient. Over 80% of people who receive an overpayment notice choose to pay online, and you can too! There are many benefits to making your payment online. You can make payments safely from anywhere, anytime. Also, online payments are processed faster and more securely than mailing paper checks or money orders.
