As part of a government-wide effort to streamline payment processes, Social Security is making it easier and safer for you to repay any overpayment you owe. If you've received an overpayment notice from us, you can now pay it back online using Pay.gov—or Online Bill Pay on the Bureau of the Fiscal Service website.
Electronic payments are fast, secure, and convenient. Over 80% of people who receive an overpayment notice choose to pay online, and you can too! There are many benefits to making your payment online. You can make payments safely from anywhere, anytime. Also, online payments are processed faster and more securely than mailing paper checks or money orders.
If you can't pay electronically, you can still use a paper check or money order. If you don't have a bank account or need assistance, call our National toll-free number at 1-855-807-8807, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time.
Go Digital and enjoy a faster, safer way to repay your overpayment! Help us spread the word by sharing with your family, friends, and on social media.
