Drought Tolerant Grass Seed Available at DPW
Drought tolerant fescue grass seed is available at the Sharon DPW on a first come, first served basis. Sharon residents may purchase two 20lb bags of grass seed for $25 per bag.

In the ongoing effort to conserve water, the Sharon Water Department is offering a high quality, drought tolerant fescue grass seed blend at $25 per 20lb bag. The grass seed is available at the DPW during regular business hours, on a first come, first served basis, with a two bag per household limit.
In addition to being drought tolerant, fescue grasses resist harmful insects and will survive in sunny or shady areas. They are easier to maintain than other grass types because they require less water and fertilizer. An added benefit is that fescues are slow growing grasses, so they require less frequent mowing. Fescue over-seeding typically requires approximately four pounds per 1,000 square feet.
After seeding, keep the seeds moist for the first few weeks to ensure good germination. Light, frequent watering will keep the delicate seedlings alive until they are well enough established to tolerate dry weather.
