Looking Thor-ward To This Weekend

Although I’ve never collected Marvel’s Thor, I’m seeing the movie during this opening weekend.

Because we’re that much closer to The Avengers finally assembling on the big screen next year.

And as an on-and-off, former Avengers Priority Identi-Card –carrying comic book fan,  I’m thrilled that Marvel Studios is featuring (apparently) most of the founders.

Thunder God included.

Every Avengers fan has their dream roster. And while Thor has never been on mine – the character just doesn’t interest me – he’s still a founder. And he brings a special perspective to the team.

I’m eager to see how the Thor movie leads into Avengers, as well as Captain America.

(By the way, Sharon Cinemas in Shaw’s Plaza has Thor this weekend. I’m probably going on Saturday.)

Will Tony Stark or Bruce Banner make cameos?

Some of the comics news sites recently posted a clip of Hawkeye in Thor. He wasn’t clearly visible when I watched them. Perhaps on the silver screen?

And, will there be references to Dr. Donald Blake, Sigurd Jarlson, Eric Masterson or Jake Olsen?

And Marvel may have a new Thor collector if the movie is awesome.

I began collecting Daredevil after the (good but not great) Ben Affleck film. I have about a 50-issue run, including one that David Mack signed for me at a Boston Comic Con.

Which reminds me: I’m a subscriber at Newbury Comics on Route 1 in Norwood. I currently get from Marvel the Avengers (which is OK) and Secret Avengers (which started great and now has lost its oomph).

It’s not exactly the Magnificent Seven. But talent and enthusiasm go a long way …
