One Book Offers Manga Workshop

One Book, One Town 2012 offers an art workshop on Wednesday.

Calling all kids ages 9 to 16: Join illustrators and comic artists Andy and Veronica Fish of Hebs & Fish Studio for a Manga and comic art workshop from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Sharon Public Library. 

Andy and Veronica's workshop offers a hands-on and how-to demonstration of this popular comic style along with the history of Manga and comic books. The workshop is specifically designed for all youths ages 9 to 16 who may love to draw or just appreciate a comic. 

This interactive program will include storytelling techniques and tricks, and tips for drawing comic heroes and bringing them to life.

The manga and comic art workshop continues the programming for this year's One Book, One Town: Sharon Reads Together selection, "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" by Michael Chabon, which follows two cousins as they create a popular superhero during the comic book heyday of the 1930s. 

Registration is required for the Manga and comic art workshop, and information can be found at the Sharon Public Library and its website, www.SharonPublicLibrary.org, the One Book website www.OneBookOneTown.org, One Book's Facebook page, and on flyers and in publications throughout the town. One Book, One Town 2012: Sharon Reads Together is sponsored by The Sharon Public Library.
