Used Bicycle Collection

Collection of old bicycles for restoring and re-use in the U.S. & abroad

Annual Bike Collection

The Sharon Friends of Conservation is teaming up with Bikes Not Bombs (BNB)for its annual Bike Collection, to be held on Saturday, June 8, from 9 AM-noon at the Unitarian Church parking lot, 4 N. Main St, Sharon, rain or shine.

All sizes and types of bikes are useful (they don’t have to be in working condition), except if they have spent significant time in the rain (and have rust). Other items that can be brought: parts and tools of any kind; broken items (e.g. cracked frame with usable components, worn tires, tubes with holes); accessories (helmets, bags, lights, pumps, locks, etc.); and cycling clothing.

Most will be shipped to economic development projects in Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean. Some bikes are used in BNB’s local Youth Programs or are reconditioned and sold in their bike shop.

BNB is a non-profit organization and will provide a tax receipt for your donation, if you like. They also ask people to consider a $10 cash donation to BNB for each bike, which helps pay the shipping cost to send them overseas, but this is optional. Check their website for more information: www.bikesnotbombs.org.
