
has reached the state tournament for the first time since 1980, Athletic Director Bob Sondheim said Thursday.
The Eagles (8-11) qualified through a Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association rule regarding split leagues, Sondheim explained.
The rules say that teams tied for second place in a division in a split league both qualify for the state tournament -- unless there's a first-place tie, he said.

Sharon and Stoughton are both 6-7 in the league, second in the Hockomock's Small School Division, according to the unofficial Hockomock League website. Oliver Ames is first, at 9-4.

Sharon finishes the regular season at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (today) hosting North Attleboro in a Hockomock crossover game, Sondheim said.
