The Sharon Education Foundation (SEF) today announced that nominations for the 2014 Lee Flaxer Award are open through Monday, June 18, 2014. This award is given to a teacher or individual who has made a significant impact on the lives of children through dedication and personal involvement and is open to qualified individuals who play an important role in education either within the Sharon schools or within the town generally.
Previous winners demonstrated the spirit of Lee Flaxer, who served as principal of Heights Elementary School for many years. She was an outstanding leader who believed that compassion and caring were essential to a positive learning atmosphere.
Past recipients included Roland James, John Brande, Meg Verret, Lisa Fireman, Joan Wernick, Bill Fish, Timothy Vigorito and Michael Hocking.
