Sharon Clothing Store Closes Today

Six months after opening, the Store @ Charles River Apparel goes out of business.

A Sharon clothing store that opened in June is selling every item today for $5.

And then closing for good.

The Store @ Charles River Apparel will shut its doors six months and five days after at corporate headquarters, on Route 1. The store is open from noon to 6 p.m. today.

"Although the store got a great response from the public, we have decided to refocus our attention on our 13,000 nationwide distributors," Charles River Apparel spokesman Kate Souza said today.

The store's two employees are being transferred to Charles River Apparel's customer service department, Souza said.

Charles River Apparel's first retail store sold the company's "men's, women’s and kids' rain wear, wicking polos and sports shirts as well as activewear, all branded with the company’s signature rowing insignia. The store will also include non-Charles River Apparel items including children's rain boots, sunglasses and official New England Patriots merchandise," according to a press release announcing the grand opening.

"The Store will also include a section aptly named 'Barry’s Bargain Basement' after President and Owner Barry Lipsett. The section will feature closeout styles and 'not quite perfect' items at very low discounted prices," the press release said.

During July 4th weekend, the store gave away 200 free polos decorated with the American flag to military members current or retired with a valid military ID.
