At the starting line, Cimeno advised the runners about road work on Massapoag Avenue.

“The road construction wasn’t really a problem,” said Gingras, a Norwood resident.

“What really did me in was I went out pretty fast for the first mile, and it is a gradual uphill from the start to the second mile. We really pushed the pace there. Then, the middle, rolling section just was pretty tough. I was alone for pretty much from two-on. So, I was trying to push the hills by myself, but I wasn’t moving at all.

“It was hard, but it was a good run. Nice course.”

Cambridge resident Colin Lyons was second overall, with a time of 27:33. Sharon resident and former SHS track star Dan Darcy was third, with a time of 28:17.

Gingras, Lyons and Darcy also were the top three in the men's 20 to 29 age bracket.
