Sharon Sees Unemployment Rate Decrease

The rate is also lower than it was a year ago.

Unlike the state as a whole, the jobless rate dropped in Easton during the month of October.

According to statistics from the state’s Office of Labor and Workforce Development, the unemployment rate for town decreased from 5 percent in September to 3.8 percent in October.

At this time last year, the unemployment rate was 5.6 percent.

Statewide, the unemployment rate remains at six percent, slightly above the national rate of 5.8. Of the roughly 3.5 million residents that make up the state’s labor force, 3.3 million are employed while 211,000 are unemployed.

  • In Mansfield, the unemployment rate dipped from 5.6 percent in September to 4.4 percent last month. Last October, the rate was 6 percent.
  • Foxborough’s rate decrease from 5.4 percent in September to 4.3 percent in October. In October 2013, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent.
  • In Easton, the unemployment rate dipped from 5.3 percent in September to 4.5 percent last month. Last October, the rate was 5.7 percent.
