This is the second of two public meetings that will inform the Lake Massapoag Bike Network Plan, which will prioritize the installation of on-road bike facilities and wayfinding signage around Lake Massapoag. The meeting will give the public the opportunity to learn about different bike lane configurations and provide input on the recommendations prepared by MAPC (the Metropolitan Area Planning Council).
At the initial public meeting in July, MAPC shared findings on the area’s existing natural and recreational assets, existing roadway conditions, and opportunities for creating a bike network around Lake Massapoag on routes that are already popular with bicyclists. Bicyclist and pedestrian safety concerns around the lake were expressed by the public, and potential bike path configurations to improve safety were discussed. The town now seeks the public’s input to refine proposed recommendations and the plan to implement them.
