3 Charged After Shrewsbury Traffic Stop Yields Guns, Drugs

A Northborough man and two from Somerville were arrested this week after the Route 9 stop.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police arrested and charged three men over guns and drugs found after a Route 9 traffic stop.

Just before 2 a.m. Thursday, a Shrewsbury officer pulled over a Honda sedan along Route 9 near Cherry Street after noticing possible motor vehicle violations.

During a search of the car, police found a 9mm handgun, an ounce of marijuana and materials used to distribute drugs, according to a news release.

A 21-year-old from Somerville, 18-year-old from Northborough and 20-year-old from Somerville were all charged with conspiracy, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of a class D drug with intent to distribute and firearms law violations. The 21-year-old is facing additional charges including illegal tints, possession of an open marijuana container and no vehicle ID on display.
