• Shrewsbury Schools Gets $82K For Safety Upgrades (patch.com) — Shrewsbury Public Schools is set to receive $82,500 in state funding to upgrade its security systems, using revenue from Massachusetts’ Fair Share “millionaires tax.” The earmark, announced by Sen. Michael Moore, channels statewide education funds directly into local safety improvements. District officials have not yet detailed exactly what security upgrades will be made.
• Greater Boston Hosts Packed Lineup of Cultural, Youth, Tech, and Entrepreneurship Events in April-May (indianewengland.com) — Shrewsbury residents can look forward to a new ‘Meet the Author’ series at the India Center on Main Street on April 25, featuring writers Manorama Choudhury and Upendra Mishra in an afternoon of storytelling and conversation. The broader roundup also highlights spring and summer cultural, youth, and tech events across Greater Boston, from Hindu Heritage Day to youth summits and dance festivals.
• River Hawks Conclude Busy Weekend With Day Two of George Davis and Virginia Challenge (goriverhawks.com) — A UMass Lowell men’s track freshman from Shrewsbury, Mass., opened the George Davis Invitational in Lowell by winning his first collegiate 2-mile race in 9:31.74. The meet featured numerous personal bests and event wins for River Hawks runners and field athletes, while another squad wrapped up competition at the Virginia Challenge, highlighting the team’s depth across distances and jumps.
