SHREWSBURY, MA — A rescue from the Shrewsbury Fire Department this week came in a smaller, cuter form.
A family of ducklings found themselves trapped inside a storm drain on Tuesday morning. The incident prompted a response from the Shrewsbury Fire Department.
Fire Lt. Sean McNiff helped rescue the ducklings from the storm drain as firefighters carefully removed the cover and lifted them out one by one, then reunited them with their mother nearby.
Thanks to the quick work and compassion of first responders, the ducklings were unharmed and safely on their way after the rescue.
The fire department shared photos from the scene showing the mother duck and her six ducklings waddling away together after the rescue.
