SHREWSBURY, MA —A longtime restaurant in Shrewsbury is closing its doors.
Hooters announced it would close its location at Marketplace Shrewsbury on Wednesday. The restaurant at 291 Boston Turnpike opened in 2015.
Hooters is well known for its casual food and its all-female waitstaff. The national eatery boasts a menu that includes hamburgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood entrees, appetizers, and chicken wings
“These decisions are never easy, and we want to sincerely thank the Shrewsbury community for years of support, memories, and loyalty," the Shrewsbury restaurant wrote in a social media post. "To all of our wonderful guests, incredible team members, and amazing Hooters Girls, thank you for being part of what made this location special.”
The Shrewsbury closure comes after Hooters of America filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last spring, Patch previously reported. Plus, in 2024, dozens of Hooters locations across the nation permanently closed due to "pressure from market conditions," according to a company statement at the time.
Hooters also has Massachusetts locations in Dedham, Saugus and West Springfield. It’s unclear whether those restaurants will close as well, though the Shrewsbury location said it looks forward to serving customers there.
