SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police handled more than 4,200 incidents in May, including nearly 1,000 calls to 911.
The department logged 4,242 total incidents, 959 calls to 911, 13 arrests and 15 criminal summonses issued during the month, according to statistics released by Shrewsbury police Wednesday.
The May totals included 683 motor vehicle stops, 306 medical calls, 194 reports of suspicious people, 95 accidents or disabled vehicles, 62 lake incidents, 59 investigations, 56 disputes or disturbances, 53 burglar alarm calls and 52 well-being checks.
Police also reported 47 animal complaints, 34 larcenies and shopliftings, 14 threats and assaults, 12 domestic disputes, 12 identity theft reports, five missing person reports, three arrest warrants served and one OUI involving alcohol or drugs.
Several major categories were down compared to May 2025, when police logged 4,396 total incidents, 977 calls to 911, 26 arrests and 22 criminal summonses issued. Accidents and disabled vehicles dropped from 136 in May 2025 to 95 this May, while OUI cases dropped from five to one.
Motor vehicle stops increased from 635 in May 2025 to 683 this May. Larcenies and shopliftings also rose from 26 to 34, investigations increased from 48 to 59 and disputes or disturbances rose from 38 to 56.
