Japanese BBQ Restaurant Opens In Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, MA — A long-planned barbecue restaurant has opened its doors along Route 9 in Shrewsbury.

BBQ LAND held a soft opening Sept. 16 at 31 Boston Turnpike, offering premium meats and Japanese-style grilling at personal tabletop grills.

The restaurant describes its dining experience as authentic Asian Yakiniku a meal designed for sharing, with customers cooking selected meats at grills built into their tables.

BBQ LAND is open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

It appears that the concept has been in development for several years.

In September 2018, Shrewsbury Board of Health officials said BBQ LAND was planned for the former McDonald's property at 31 Boston Tpke. Town officials described plans for a grill at each table, according to meeting minutes.
