SHREWSBURY, MA — The Shrewsbury Police Department received recognition Tuesday for its efforts to improve safety on local roads.
The department earned a AAA Silver Traffic Safety Award for its traffic enforcement, public education and community engagement work, police announced Tuesday. The 2026 AAA Community Traffic Safety Awards recognize work performed by police departments and officers during the past year.
Police Chief Kevin Anderson established a Traffic Unit over the past year to respond to traffic concerns, promote safer driving and implement traffic-calming measures around Shrewsbury, according to the department.
Sgt. Ryan Bradley, who serves as the department's Community Service Division sergeant, has led the unit through monthly meetings focused on safety initiatives and community education.
Meanwhile, Officer Timothy Charland has worked on traffic enforcement, crash reconstruction and traffic studies.
Officer O'Brien, who did not attend the award presentation, was also credited by the department as a key contributor to its traffic safety work over the past year.
