SHREWSBURY, MA — Three new officers officially joined the Shrewsbury Police Department during swearing-in ceremonies this week.
Officers Brendan Dowd, Christian Robles and Sarah Wong Kam took their oaths one day after graduating from the Marlborough Police Academy, the department announced Friday. All three bring local ties and previous professional experience to their new roles.
Dowd, a Shrewsbury native, worked in construction before serving as a department dispatcher for 2½ years. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire.
Robles was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Worcester, where he attended Burncoat Middle School and Burncoat High School. He later attended Quinsigamond Community College and Fitchburg State University before working as a truck driver for four years. Robles is fluent in Spanish.
Wong Kam, originally from Webster, moved to Shrewsbury in 2025. She graduated from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in 2017 before earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in psychology from Worcester State University.
Wong Kam also completed internships with the Webster and Dudley police departments and worked as a Shrewsbury police dispatcher for nearly four years. Becoming a police officer was a goal she had pursued for a decade, according to the department.
The department congratulated the officers and wished them long, safe and successful careers in Shrewsbury.
