SHREWSBURY, MA — A driver was killed Monday following a three-vehicle crash on Route 20, police said.
Shrewsbury police and firefighters and Worcester EMS paramedics responded to Hartford Turnpike at Edgemere Boulevard around 11:51 a.m. The driver of a westbound 2011 Honda Accord was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, according to police.
The initial investigation found that the Honda and an eastbound 2019 Ford F-250 towing a trailer collided head-on, police said.
A 2005 Kenworth oil tanker that was stopped in the eastbound lane while waiting to turn left onto Edgemere Boulevard sustained secondary damage after the initial collision, according to police.
Responding officers found the Honda driver unresponsive and immediately began lifesaving measures. Police did not identify the driver.
The crash remains under investigation by Shrewsbury police Officers Charland and Fleury, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Team and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
