Bail for Driver Accused of Trying to Run Down Officer

The following cases were heard in Westborough District Court.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Judge David Locke ordered Sengupta held on $2,500 cash or $25,000 surety and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 8. According to police, an officer spotted Sengupta, who was known for having outstanding warrants and who drove at the officer as he attempted to make an arrest. Sengupta later drove through traffic and struck a Shrewsbury cruiser. 

Judge David Locke dismissed the charges in District Court upon indictment and arraignment in Worcester District Court.

Christopher A. Dupre, 24, of 213 Federal Hill Rd., Millbury, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Grafton police to face a charge of violation of an abuse prevention order. Judge David Locke dismissed the charges upon the request of prosecutors. Also dismissed were charges from Grafton in another case that includes reckless operation of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment of a child. 

Eileen Moreira, 37, of 14 Ray St., N. Grafton, was arrested by Grafton police and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and a seat belt violation. Judge David Locke released Moreira on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for March 11. Police said Moreira fled the scene of a three-car accident on Bridge Street in Grafton before being stopped a short distance away.
