Board Says OK to Effort to Build Marijuana Cultivation Facility

The Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen voted to send a letter of 'non-oppostion' to the DOH.

JCS holdings, which intends to build a medical marijuana cultivation facility in Shrewsbury, got a unanimous vote from the Board of Selectmen to send a letter of “non-opposition” to the state Department of Public Health, reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

The facility, proposed as the Haven Center at 28 Bowditch Drive, first must send a letter restating the details, and the Board will follow with the non-opposition letter. Plans for the Haven Center are to grow the medical marijuana in Shrewbury and then move the product to a dispensary in Suffolk or Bristol counties, said the Telegram.

It is reported that the facility could create 20 jobs in the first year, and increase to 50 by 2017.
