Come celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Dean Park on Saturday, October 24th at Dean Park, 805 Main Street, Shrewsbury Ma. Several activities are scheduled to commemorate the park beginning at 12:00 Noon.
A Vintage baseball game will be held at 12:00 Noon featuring the Mudville Base Ball Club from Holliston Massachusetts. Come see how 1865 “Massachusetts rules” baseball was played and how the game evolved in 1915. Watch as the Mudville team plays against local Shrewsbury Residents. Brown & Brown Real Estate will be handing out free Kettle popcorn during the game, while supplies last.
At 1:30 pm will be the Flag raising ceremony and Re-dedication at field # 1 near the flag pole. The Shrewsbury Parks Commissioners are pleased to announce that Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will be speaking at the event along with other local and state officials.

The great- grandchildren of Grace Dean Backholm, who helped raise the first flag in 1915, will have the honor of raising the flag at the event.
Following the ceremony the Shrewsbury Parks Commissioners will invite everyone to stay and enjoy the park, play some lawn games and share their favorite Dean Park Memories.

Dean Park was donated to the Town of Shrewsbury by Charles A. Dean in memory of his parents James and Kiziah Stearns Dean at a special town meeting in 1915. Dean Park is over 75 acres and features a playground, covered picnic pavilions, baseball and softball diamonds, a pond with musical fountains, tennis courts, basketball courts, restrooms, and walking paths.
