Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Shrewsbury police are seeking information after a woman was seriously injured on Thursday afternoon. Jeanne Cote, 68, 117 Old Mill Road, Shrewsbury, was walking in the area of 103 Harrington Ave., when she was hit by a car, with the driver fleeing the scene. Shrewsbury police and fire responded at 1:07 p.m. to the accident to find that Cote had been severely injured. She is being treated at UMass Hospital. Police say Cote was walking north on the sidewalk when the accident occurred with the vehicle traveling south when the car jumped the curb and struck her. It was reported that a driver was operating erratically in the area, and police have determined that the vehicle was silver and received damage to the passenger side.
