Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Book discussion with author, Indu Sundaresan on Skype Members of the SAHELI group will meet at the Shrewsbury Public Library on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 2 PM for a book discussion on the Taj trilogy – The Twentieth Wife, Feast of Roses and The Shadow Princess – by Indu Sundaresan. The Seattle based author will join us on Skype and answer our questions. The stories are set in 16th and 17th century Mughal India and feature strong female characters like Mehrunisa, aka Nur Jahan, Jahangir's wife, and the daughters of Shah Jahan, the king who built the Taj Mahal for his wife, Mumtaz. All are invited to join in the book discussion that will be led by Priya Rathnam, Reference Librarian at the Shrewsbury Library. Even if you have read just one book in the trilogy, you are welcome to come and participate in the discussion.
