“Donald Voorhees, Maestro & Michael Scherfen, Protégé”

A stunning collection of watercolors ranging from Jersey Shore lansdcapes, florals, seascapes, golf courses and portraits by two acclaimed artists – Don Voorhees AWAS, NJWS, the Maestro, and Michael Scherfen, the Protégé, both of Atlantic Highlands.  This is the first show at the Guild of Creative Art for both artists, and first ever for Michael, former Art Director in New York City.

Donald Voorhees, AWAS, NJWS

Donald Voorhees, author of  “Lessons From a Lifetime of Watercolor Painting”, has been painting for more than fifty years.   Having graduated from Newark Academy of Fine Arts, a four-year art immersion program, he then took workshops at the Art Students League in New York City.   He has also written for The Artist’s Magazine, and numerous articles have appeared about him in such publications as Print, Graphics, Collector’s Mart, Gems of New Jersey, as well as “Who’s Who” publications.   He owned his own gallery for twenty-five years and has been a teacher of watercolor throughout his career. Former president and life member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society and has had memberships and affiliations with many other professional art associations and societies, including the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

Michael Scherfen-
Born in Portland, Oregon.  Raised in San Francisco.  Graduated with a Bachelor
 of Fine Arts Degree from the Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles, CA, 
27 year veteran Advertising Art Director, NYC.  Retired and started painting in 2008, 
studying under the renowned watercolor artist Donald Voorhees, AWAS, NJWS.
Specializes in portraits, landscapes, seascapes.
