Holy Cross Men's Basketball To Face Bucknell On Winter Homecoming

The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to the Hart Center when it plays host to Bucknell in a 1:05 p.m. contest on Saturday.

The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the Hart Center this weekend, when it plays host to Bucknell in a 1:05 p.m. contest on Saturday, Feb. 6, as part of Winter Homecoming weekend. The game between the Crusaders and the Bison can be seen live on the internet through Crusader Vision and the Patriot League Network. In addition, the contest will air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross enters the game with an overall record of 9-13 and a 4-7 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders fell 58-45 at American on Monday night, and have now lost six of their last eight games. Holy Cross is currently tied for in eighth place in the Patriot League, but is only two games out of third place.

Junior guard Robert Champion leads the team by averaging 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. Junior forward Malachi Alexander has also been playing well, with averages of 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. Freshman forward Karl Charles has added 10.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, while senior guard Cullen Hamilton is chipping in with 10.0 points and 2.6 boards per contest.

Bucknell stands 12-10 overall this season and is in first place in the Patriot League with a 9-2 mark against conference foes. The Bison were defeated by American 69-55 on Wednesday night, to snap a four-game winning streak. Bucknell has shot 47.5 percent from the floor this year, while outscoring its Patriot League opponents by 10.5 points per game.

Senior guard Chris Hass leads the Bison by averaging 17.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, while hitting 82.8 percent (96 of 116) of his free throws. Sophomore center Nana Foulland is averaging 12.0 points, 6.7 boards and 1.2 blocks per contest, while sophomore forward Zach Thomas has added 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

After the contest with Bucknell, the Crusaders will remain at home for a 7:05 p.m. game against Lafayette on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
