Holy Cross Men's Basketball To Face UMass At The DCU Center

WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross director of athletics Nathan Pine and head men’s basketball coach Bill Carmody have announced that the Crusaders will face UMass at the DCU Center in Worcester this season. The game will take place on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at 1:05 p.m. This contest will be the first of a three-year series between the schools, which will also include games during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons at the Mullins Center in Amherst.

“We look forward to resuming our series with UMass,” said Carmody. “We always want to challenge ourselves against top competition, and it is an added bonus that we can do so against an in-state rival. This year’s game will provide an excellent opportunity for our fans to see us play in downtown Worcester, and we anticipate there being a great atmosphere in the building.”

The Crusaders have played a total of 21 games at the DCU Center over the years, with their last appearance being an 86-64 victory over Boston College on Nov. 18, 2011. Holy Cross and UMass have met at the DCU Center on three previous occasions, with the Minutemen holding a 2-1 advantage in those games. This year’s game will mark the 57th meeting between the schools, with the Crusaders leading the all-time series 36-20.

Holy Cross is coming off a 2015-2016 campaign in which it won the Patriot League Tournament title and defeated Southern in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament.
