Holy Cross Men's Basketball Returns Home To Face Loyola (Md.)

Holy Cross men's basketball returns to the Hart Center this week for a 7:05 p.m. contest against Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the Hart Center this week for a 7:05 p.m. contest against Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday, Jan. 27, as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Night presented by Saint Vincent Hospital. The game between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds can be seen live on the internet through Campus Insiders and the Patriot League Network. In addition, the contest will air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross enters the game with an overall record of 8-11 and a 3-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders fell 76-61 at Colgate on Sunday, and have now dropped four of their last five games. Holy Cross is currently tied with Boston University for seventh place in the Patriot League, but is only a half game out of fourth place.

Junior guard Robert Champion leads the team by averaging 12.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Freshman forward Karl Charles has also been playing well, with averages of 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. Junior forward Malachi Alexander has added 10.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, while senior guard Cullen Hamilton is chipping in with 8.9 points and 2.5 boards per contest.

Loyola stands 4-14 overall this season and 3-4 in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds are currently on a four-game losing streak, and are coming off a 67-58 setback against Bucknell last Wednesday. Loyola also stands just 2-8 on the road so far this season.

Junior forward Jarred Jones leads the Greyhounds with averages of 13.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, while hitting 76.8 percent of his free throws (63 of 82). Sophomore guard Andre Walker is averaging 12.7 points and 3.7 assists per contest, while senior guard Tyler Hubbard has added 11.5 points per game.

After the contest with Loyola, the Crusaders will remain at home for a 1:05 p.m. game against Navy on Saturday, Jan. 30.
