Holy Cross Women's Hockey Captures NEHC Open Championship
Holy Cross defeated Saint Anselm 4-3 In Overtime To Win NEHC Open Championship

- Junior Elizabeth Scala (Rumford, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal for Holy Cross in overtime, as the Crusaders defeated Saint Anselm, 4-3, to win the 2016 NEHC Open Tournament Championship.
- Freshman Danielle Doherty (Wakefield, Mass.) got the scoring started at 2:43 of the first period, as junior Erin Hall (Pembroke, Mass.) set her up with a long pass up the middle of the ice to create a breakaway. Doherty beat goaltender Hannah Synnott with a roof shot to the stick side.
- Freshman Sam Girard (Dedham, Mass.) tied the game up for Holy Cross at 18:53 of the second, as she grabbed the puck behind the Saint Anselm net and beat Synnott with a wraparound goal.
- Sophomore Kara Violette (Biddeford, Maine) gave Holy Cross a 3-2 lead at 5:40 of the third period, as she picked up the puck in the offensive zone and wrapped around the back of the Saint Anselm net.
- Sophomore goaltender Tessie Salatas stopped 24 shots and allowed three goals to earn the win in net for the Crusaders.
- This is the sixth time the Crusaders have won the NEHC Open Championship, they previously won the title in 2003, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2015.
