Hot Pot, Sushi Spots Among 4 New Tenants Coming To Marketplace Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, MA — Marketplace Shrewsbury is preparing to add three restaurants and an insurance office as redevelopment continues at the Route 9 shopping center.

Hungry Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, Sora Seafood and Sushi Buffet, Tandoori Pizza and GEICO Insurance are coming to the plaza near the intersection of Route 9 and Maple Avenue, the project developer Sam Adams confirmed to Patch. Most businesses have not announced opening dates.

Hungry Pot is expected to take over the former Hooters building at 378 Maple Ave. The national eatery that opened in 2015 closed earlier this year.

The Telegram & Gazette reported that Hungry Pot will open in the space within the next few months following extensive renovations.

Hungry Pot, which specializes in Korean barbecue and hot pot dining, also operates restaurants in Natick and Dartmouth.

Sora Seafood and Sushi Buffet is also listed as opening soon. The company operates an all-you-can-eat restaurant at Sherwood Plaza in Natick featuring sushi, seafood, hibachi and other hot dishes, according to the business. The company had not posted a Shrewsbury opening date as of Friday.

Tandoori Pizza will bring its Indian fusion pizza concept to Massachusetts for the first time. The chain’s location directory lists Massachusetts as “coming soon,” though it does not yet provide an address or opening date.

The plaza’s leasing listing identifies GEICO Insurance as a future tenant. Additional details about the planned office were not immediately available.

The four businesses will join others at Marketplace Shrewsbury, including Wok & Flame, NOLA Cajun Kitchen, EggHolic Indian Street Food, Big Apple Breakfast & Lunch, MOTW Coffee & Pastries, and Imperial Buffet.
