Lightning Hits Shrewsbury Home During Thunderstorm: Photos
The weekend storms brought plenty of lightning, with a strike nearby that sparked a house fire.
SHREWSBURY, MA — A lightning strike in Shrewsbury during a weekend storm punched a hole in the roof of a garage, according to the fire department.
The strike happened during a quick thunderstorm on Saturday night that rolled across the region during daytime hours.
According to images taken by the fire department, the lightning bolt blew shingles across the resident's yard before entering the structure and charring a support beam. No one was injured in the strike.

The fire department did not say where the strike occurred.
Nearby, a lightning strike in Southborough sparked a house fire on Friday evening. Three local firefighters were injured battling the blaze along Sears Road.
